Sam Bahadur release date, cast and more

Scheduled for release on December 1, 2023, the film clashes with Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming movie, Animal. Meghna Gulzar, Bhavani Iyer, and Shantanu Srivastava co-wrote the biographical war drama. Sam Bahadur stars Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, and Zeeshan Ayyub.

Ronnie Screwvala produces the film under the banner of RSVP Movies. Actor Vicky Kaushal shared a new poster for the film along with the trailer release announcement yesterday, November 6, 2023. He wrote, “This story is about the man who dedicated his life to the Indian Army, to the nation. Trailer Out Tomorrow! #SamBahadur in cinemas 1.12.2023.”

On November 7, 2023, the Chief of the Army Staff, Manoj Pande, released the trailer for Sam Bahadur in Delhi at Manekshaw Centre. The clip features Vicky Kaushal as Sam Bahadur as he prepares to confront the enemy. From receiving praises by ministers to his journey to becoming the Field Marshal leading the army, the film sheds light on the unforgettable life of Sam Bahadur.

Fatima Sana Sheikh also portrays the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, expressing doubts about Sam’s capabilities in handling the escalating tension with neighboring countries during the war. However, Sam proves her wrong, and the trailer showcases several scenes from their journey towards victory.

Who was Sam Manekshaw?

Sam Manekshaw, also known as Sam Bahadur (Sam the Brave), was the Chief of the Army Staff in the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. A national hero, Manekshaw earned acclaim for his bravery and strategic acumen and had a great sense of humor. He became the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

Upon his appointment as the Chief of the Army Staff in 1969, he undertook the responsibility of modernizing the Indian Army and preparing it for a potential conflict with Pakistan. He led the Indian Army to victory in the war, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.

The upcoming biopic will shed light on Sam Bahadur life and career, which spanned over four decades and five wars. It will also include his role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war.
