‘Today’ Fans Rally Around Al Roker After He Shares Instagram About His Son Nick

Sure, Al Roker may be a superstar host, but he’s still going through what countless other parents are right now: sending their kids off to school again after a wonderful summer.

The TODAY anchor and weatherman posted a simple photo of an omelette with bacon and potatoes to his Instagram. Normally, you’d think he was just hopping on the trend of sharing snaps of food, but his caption proved this was more than just a regular meal. “Only a few days left for me to make breakfast for Nick,” Al wrote.

Al and his wife, anchor and author Deborah Roberts, have been getting ready for their son Nick to head off to his sophomore year of college (he left for school on August 20!). For years, Al and Deborah have taken fans along for the journey of Nick’s college career, from touring campuses to sharing the moment Nick found out he got accepted to two schools. So naturally, when Al posted the photo, commenters flooded him with support and kind words.

“Nothing feels better than doing something for your child, he will never forget the love you have shown him,” one wrote. “He’s going to miss those breakfasts you so lovingly make him when he’s home and I know you’ll miss having him there. Have a great year at college, Nick,” said another. “Another delicious breakfast made with LOVE!!! ❤️ Enjoy Nick!!! Have a blessed day Al and Nick,” someone else wrote.

It’s true that Al and Deborah are once again empty nesters, but at least they have their new granddaughter, Sky Clara, to spoil!
