Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan Ascend ODI Batting Rankings in Remarkable Asia Cup Performance

In the latest MRF Tyres ODI Batting Rankings, Indian cricketers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have made significant progress following their standout performances in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. While Pakistan skipper Babar Azam maintains his lead in the rankings, Gill and Kishan have made notable strides up the ladder.

Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan’s Impressive Rise

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 67* against Nepal in a crucial match propelled him to a career-high rating of 750 rating points. As a result, he now sits in third place on the ODI batting rankings, positioning himself as a strong contender less than a month before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Ishan Kishan displayed his batting prowess with a brilliant 82 against Pakistan in Pallekele. His outstanding performance earned him a career-best rating of 624 points and a 12-place rise to the 24th spot in the updated ODI batting rankings.

Babar Azam’s Dominance

Despite participating in only one inning during the Asia Cup, Babar Azam showcased his destructive batting abilities by scoring a superb 151 against Nepal. The inspirational Pakistan skipper continues to maintain a commanding lead at the top of the ODI batting rankings with an impressive total of 882 rating points.

South Africa’s powerful batter Rassie van der Dussen retains second place in the rankings, with Shubman Gill emerging as the latest challenger to the top duo following his one-spot jump in the rankings.

Sri Lanka’s dynamic batter Charith Asalanka climbed eight spots to 29th in the latest ODI batting rankings. Several international stars performing well in the Asia Cup have also made significant progress in the updated bowler rankings. 

Bowlers’ Rankings

Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi moved up four places to fifth overall in the bowlers’ rankings, while his teammates Haris Rauf (up 14 to equal 29th) and Naseem Shah (up 13 to 68th) achieved new career-high ratings.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan climbed two places to 10th in the ODI bowling rankings. He is also the Number 1 ranked all-rounder in ODIs at the moment. 

T20I Rankings

In the T20I rankings, South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram moved up one place to equal third among batters and four spots to fourth for all-rounders following his performances at home. Australia’s Mitchell Marsh also made a significant leap of 14 positions to 11th in the T20I batting rankings.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips (up three places to 14th) and Finn Allen (up 22 spots to 22nd) made notable gains in the T20I batting rankings. England’s Jos Buttler (up two places to eighth) and Harry Brook (up 51 spots to equal 27th) also rose in the rankings.

England’s Adil Rashid rose two places to second in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, while Sam Curran improved one spot to eighth. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan leads the competitive top 10 bowlers’ list.
