Shikhar Dhawan Urges Action on Delhi’s Smog Crisis

The World Cup is going with full flavor. In every part of India, matches are being played. All teams are hustling hard.  As the semifinal stage is coming close, the tournament is getting more exciting. India is in a great form. They won all their eight matches. South Africa lost their previous match against India by 243 runs. England is officially out of the tournament. But there is another concern is rising in the tournament.

Delhi Pollution and Dhawan’s Words:

India is the host of this edition of the World Cup. Being the host country, all teams are playing the match all over India. Delhi is also organizing some matches. But the air pollution in the city is a reason for concern. The air quality is getting worse day by day. Breathing into Delhi air is becoming injurious. It is really necessary to take some steps on that crucial matter.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan opened up about this situation. He used his social media handle to raise the concern. He said, “ The Smog in Delhi NCR is not just a season or because of Diwali; It’s a crisis. Let’s unite and act for cleaner air and a safer environment.”

Cancellation of the Practice match:

On November 6, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are playing the match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Before heading to the clash, a practice was scheduled for the weekend. Bangladesh canceled the practice session. After one day after their cancellation, Sri Lanka also canceled their practice session. The pollution level and AQI was extremely poor and those were the reason why those practice sessions were abandoned.

Some of the asthmatic players stayed inside the dressing room during their last practice. The Sri Lankan coach talked about the situation. He said,” Our doctors are keeping a close eye on the players. Some of the players didn’t turn up for practice as they were asthmatic, so they stayed indoors. Even for practice, we’re very conscious. We train what we have to train, and then go back into the dressing room. They don’t spend time outdoors unless they’re bowling or batting.”
