Two of iconic director Roger Corman‘s most recognizable films — The Terror and The Little Shop of Horrors — are set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD.
To celebrate The Terror’s 60th anniversary, a two-disc package of the 1963 film and the 1960 horror movie The Little Shop of Horrors will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, December 12.
From Film Masters, the upcoming release contains new HD restorations of both of Corman’s movies alongside various bonus features, including a commentary track for The Terror by C. Courtney Joyner and Dr. Steve Haberman and a commentary track for The Little Shop of Horrors featuring author Justin Humphreys and the film’s star, Jonathan Haze. “The Terror has languished in the public domain for decades,” stated Film Masters President Phil Hopkins. “We’re delighted to have put together a celebratory and thought-provoking version with an award-winning team of contributors. Fans of the film will appreciate the editorial bonus features, which take a much-needed deep dive into this infamous Corman classic.”

What is The Terror about?
“An 18th century French Lieutenant in Napoleon’s army encounters the ghostly apparition of a young woman (Sandra Knight),” reads The Terror’s synopsis. “Curiosity leads Lt. Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson) to the castle of Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff), where he notices a painting of the Baron’s late wife Ilsa, who looks identical to the ghostly woman. Determined to unravel the castle’s mystery, Duvalier learns that the Baron has many terrifying secrets. Though officially credited to Corman, The Terror had a total of five collaborative directors, including Nicholson, Monte Hellman and Francis Ford Coppola.”
The Little Shop of Horrors was first released in 1960 and was made within days on a budget of $28,000. After gaining a cult following, the film would be adapted into a beloved off-Broadway musical by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken in 1982. This musical would then be adapted into its own movie in 1986, which was directed by Frank Oz and featured Rick Moranis, Steve Martin, Ellen Greene, and more.
