Pakistan Cricket Fan Bashir Chacha Detained at Hyderabad Airport During Warm Welcome

Basheer ‘Chacha,’ a beloved and dedicated Pakistan cricket fan, encountered an unexpected situation at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport as he eagerly awaited the arrival of the Pakistan cricket team for their ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up match.

As the clock approached 8 pm, Pakistan’s cricket squad touched down at the airport, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Among them was Basheer ‘Chacha,’ whose excitement knew no bounds as he proudly waved the Pakistan national flag to express his unwavering support.

Security Concerns and Temporary Detention

However, the sight of the national flag waving caught the attention of the RGIA police, who swiftly moved to detain Basheer. Their primary concern was public safety, and they took action, leading to a brief interruption in the otherwise joyful reception.

Basheer ‘Chacha,’ known for his unwavering devotion to Pakistan cricket, cooperated with the authorities once the misunderstanding was explained. He quickly clarified his identity as a passionate Pakistan cricket team supporter who had travelled to India for the match. In an effort to resolve the situation, he presented his travel documents, tickets, and identity cards, which helped put the authorities at ease.

Resumption of the Warm Welcome

Following this momentary hiccup, Basheer was released from custody, and the warm welcome resumed. Meanwhile, as preparations for the upcoming Pakistan vs. New Zealand match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on September 29 continue, stringent security measures have been implemented.

A formidable force of 200 police personnel has been deployed to ensure the safety of all involved. This high level of security extends not only to the spectators but also to the players themselves, in accordance with the requests of the BCCI and HCA. However, due to security concerns, the warm-up match will be played without any spectators.

Cricket enthusiasts around the world are eagerly counting down the days to the much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023, set to commence on October 5. The tournament will kick off with a match between the previous finalists, New Zealand and England, at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
