MCA Auctions Spots Where MS Dhoni Hit Sixes

“And Dhoni finishes off in style! A magnificent strike into the crowd. India lifted the World Cup after 28 years.” Even after 13 years, every Indian feels goosebumps whenever they listen to this commentary in Ravi Shastri’s voice. These words have been attached to every Indian’s heart. These few lines are enough to take everyone down memory lane.

Before 2011 India won the World Cup in 1983 against West Indies under Kapil Dev’s captaincy. From 1983 to 2011, in these 28 years, India reached the semi-finals and finals but could not win it for the nation. In 2011 India organized the World Cup at home for the first time.

The big story of the night:

It was Sachin Tendulkar’s last World Cup so the whole of India was expecting a master blaster innings on that big night. Sri Lanka set a target of 275 runs. Mahela Jayawardena scored a fabulous century. In the second innings when India came to bat Virender Sehwag got out on a duck on the very first over. Then Sachin Tendulkar scored 18 and walked away. Youngster Virat Kohli scored 35.

Then Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni played fearlessly. Gambhir played an impactful innings of 97 runs. After his departure, Yuvraj Singh came and helped Dhoni to make India win. It was a perfect nail-biting World Cup final. four runs were needed in the last ball. MSD took the strike and hit the six on the last ball. And the rest is history. That night India celebrated Diwali before Diwali came.

The nostalgia is coming back:

After 13 years  India is going to organise the World Cup again. The craze is high obviously. Wankhede Stadium is going to arrange a World Cup match. Over a decade Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar was able to spot two seats where the ball hit by Dhoni landed. The ball is with a Hong Kong resident. MCA would request him to bring the ball to them for the MCA museum.

Now the MCA has taken another decision. They want to auction those two seats where the ball was landed. This is a unique way to engage people with that nostalgia. With that decision, netizens have mixed reactions. In the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup everyone will see the exact scenario of that auction of those two seats.
