A two-time ODI World Cup winner himself, Hayden excluded wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav from his predicted squad.
In Hayden’s proposed squad for the World Cup, the wrist spinners were omitted. Instead, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel were chosen as spinners. The squad included three wicketkeepers – Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul. Specialist batters selected were Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Among the pacers, Hayden included Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur. ODI vice-captain Hardik Pandya was listed as the seam-bowling all-rounder.
India’s World Cup journey will commence on October 8 when they face five-time champions Australia in Chennai.
