Mahindra Scorpio-N base Z2 variant Vs Scorpio Classic S base variant SUVs compared on video

For the last two decades, the Mahindra Scorpio has remained as one of the most revered SUVs in the country. The model was launched in 2002 and ever since then, it has maintained its position as one of the most important and popular ladder-on-frame SUVs in the country. The company recently launched the Scorpio-N model which is the most advanced version of this SUV. However, it did not discontinue the old model and rather kept it with the new Scorpio Classic badge in its lineup. Recently a video comparison of the base variants of both these SUVs has been shared online.

Price and engine difference

The video of the in-depth walkaround and comparison of the base variants of both cars have been shared on YouTube by Anubhav Chauhan on their channel. The video starts off with the presenter mentioning that the car on his left is the Scorpio Classic base S variant and the one on the right is the Scorpio-N’s base variant Z2. He mentions that the price difference between both SUVs is around Rs 65,000. He states the Classic S costs Rs 15.05 lakh and the Scorpio-N Z2 costs Rs 15.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

He then states that both of the cars come equipped with the same 2.2 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. He adds that the more expensive variants of the Scorpio-N and even the Z2 variant gets a petrol engine option. However, the Classic S variant and its more expensive trims do not get a petrol engine. The presenter also mentions that the Scorpio-N lineup gets automatic transmission options but the Classic lineup does not. Additionally, he mentions that both cars make around 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. Lastly, he adds that both cars do not 4X4 options in base variants but the Scorpio-N gets the 4X4 option in higher trims while the Classic does not get it in any trim.

Exterior differences

Next up the presenter then shows the keys of the car and mentions that both get the exact same keys. After this, he compares the exterior of both SUVs and mentions that the Scorpio Classic gets gloss black door mirrors with a joystick to adjust which in the Scorpio-N are matte black and manually adjustable by touching the mirrors themselves. He adds that both cars do not get any chrome on the outside. He then states that both cars get halogen headlamps on the front and miss out on fog lamps.

After this he moves to the side of the cars and adds that he Scorpio Classic gets a thick cladding in the lower section which comes unpainted. Meanwhile, the cladding on the Scorpio-N is thinner and does not look that odd. He then also mentions that the both SUVs come equipped with 17-inch silver steel wheels. After this, he moves to the rear of the SUVs and mentions that both miss out on rear wipers and defogger use of any chrome. He adds that both cars get LED tail lights. He then shows the difference between the rear jump seats of the Classic and the standard bench seat of the Scorpio-N. He adds that in the rear both cars get reverse parking sensors.

Interior differences

Following the exterior the presenter moves to the interior of the cars. He starts off the with interior of the Scorpio Classic and mentions that it comes pretty much bare bones. He adds the Classic misses out on an infotainment system, height-adjustable headrests, and other essential amenities. Meanwhile, the Scorpio-N even in the base Z2 variant comes with an infotainment screen, steering-mounted controls, a much better MID display, and window controls on all four doors. He adds that although it gets rough black finishes and hard plastics its interior looks far better than the Scorpio Classic S variant.
