Kia Carnival price, India launch details, exterior design

India-bound Carnival MPV gets Kia EV9-like exterior design.

Kia has finally revealed the updated exterior design of the Carnival facelift that is headed to India next year. The refreshed Carnival MPV is based on the Kia KA4 that was shown at the Auto Expo in India earlier this year.

  2. Expected to get spruced up interior too
  3. Three engines on offer internationally

Kia Carnival facelift gets new looks, updated powertrains

While the interior is still under wraps, the exterior design of the Carnival facelift is in line with what was expected, thanks to multiple spy shots that had surfaced recently. The MPV’s design is a complete departure from the KA4 MPV; it gets a more upright nose with a wide grille and L-shaped headlamps with daytime running lamps. The grille gets chrome bits, with the bumper getting a small air intake lower down that’s surrounded by a faux brushed aluminum skid plate.

The L-shaped theme continues on the tail-lamps as well, which are connected via an LED light bar and the rear bumper gets a mix of matte black and chrome. The alloy wheel design mimics the ones seen on newer Kia models, especially the born-EV SUVs like the EV5 and the EV9.

Kia is yet to reveal interior details for the updated Carnival. We are told that the dashboard and tech will be spruced up, and there will be multiple seating layouts on offer. Higher variants will get multiple sunroofs too. The Carnival will get new-look seats from the EV9 and there are talks of more features as well, including twin curved displays for instrumentation and infotainment, and safety tech like ADAS, among others.

Kia Carnival facelift powertrain, India launch

As far as powertrains go, two petrols and one diesel engine will be on offer, depending on the market. Joining the updated Carnival’s global line-up is the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine that will sit alongside a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Expect more details on the updated Carnival to be revelaed in due course. Kia has confirmed that the MPV will come to India next year along with the born-EV EV9 flagship full-size SUV. Additionally, the Sonet facelift is also being readied for launch in the coming months.
