Styled with a deep side parting and a flyaway-free finish, Mirren’s super-straight new silver cut grazed her shoulders and drew attention to her glowing, sun-kissed complexion. Mirren follows in the footsteps of a number of other celebrities–including Hailey Bieber and Claire Foy–in sporting a blunt bob right now. It’s directional and makes a statement–especially when paired with tailoring on the red carpet.
The last couple of years has seen a surge in women who are 50-plus experimenting with hairstyles that they may previously have avoided due to outdated “rules.” For example, cutting your hair short once you reach a “certain age” is no longer a thing, with everyone from Mirren to Demi Moore to Naomi Campbell showing off their swishy long locks this year. Women are also embracing their grey hair, choosing to celebrate rather than camouflage it.
Mirren has played a big part in changing the way women think about aging. She likes to switch things up and be daring with her look, and always has fun on the red carpet. “I like to break my own rules as much as possible,” she previously told Vogue.
