Gill Praises Rohit’s Explosive Start with Consistent Boundaries

Mission semifinal done for Rohit Sharma and Co. India remained unbeaten even after the semifinal stage. They entered into the World Cup 2023 final being unbeaten. After completing the group stage, India appeared in the semifinal against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. That was a revenge-taking match for India as the Kiwis defeated team India in the 2019 World Cup semifinal. In this match, India registered a magnificent 70-run win against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma played a quick-fire knock. After the match, in the press conference, Shubman Gill talked about Rohit’s innings.

Shubman on Rohit’s Quick-fire:

Undoubtedly, it was a big match for both teams. The winning team secured the final ticket and the losing side said goodbye to the tournament at this stage. India ended the match on a winning note. While batting in the first innings, Rohit missed the well-deserved half-century just by 3 runs. He played a valuable quick-fire knock of 47 runs in 29 balls. That gave a confident start to India’s innings. 

In the post-match conference, Shubman Gill was asked about Rohit’s innings. In reply, he said, “ I don’t want to do anything while batting with Rohit Bhai, he will hit 4 or 6 every time in first 10 overs (smiles).” 

Gill’s Unfortunate Retired Hurt:

Shubman Gill was unfortunate in the clash against New Zealand. He got retired hurt in the mid-way. The incident happened in the 23rd over of the first innings. He was batting on 79 runs in 65 balls. He was so close to another well-deserved century. Mitchell Santner was bowling the over. On the fourth delivery, Gill looked uncomfortable. Physio checked him. After a bit of stretching, Shubman wasn’t able to walk properly. After that, he walked away from the field. He came back in the last and remained not out on 80 runs till the end.

After this clinical win, India secured the ticket for the final showdown. The final match of the tournament is scheduled for November 19. India is still looking for their opponent in the final match. After the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa, another finalist will be decided. India is hosting the tournament. India won the 2011 World Cup being a host country. This time fans are hoping for the same.
