Celebrity Chef Curtis Stone Brings A Gwen-Inspired Menu To The Breeders’ Cup

The Breeders’ Cup is returning for its 40th anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Santa Anita Park for its annual world championship and chef Curtis Stone will be at the reigns, cooking up a plated service that will be served in the restaurants at Santa Anita Park,  as well as buffet service on both Friday and Saturday. Leading up to the event, Stone will be bulking up the jockeys with a hefty breakfast.

There will be some Gwen-inspired dishes on the menu. The plated lunch entrée options for Friday and Saturday include poached wild salmon and arugula salad with autumn roasted vegetables and Meyer lemon vinaigrette, miso braised short ribs with potato puree and charred broccolini. There’s a white meat entree of roasted chicken breast and jalapeno aioli, a fish course of New Orleans BBQ shrimp with creamy goat cheese and parmesan polenta, and curried cauliflower with chickpeas and dill rice for the vegan crowd.

On Thursday there will be a massive breakfast bar buffet complete with live omelet, French toast, carving and pancake stations, as well as a juice bar.

“I grew up in Victoria, Australia,” Stone shared in a Breeders’ Cup interview. “The Melbourne Cup is one of the biggest horse races in the world, so I was always aware of the sport. Of course, the skills of the jockeys can’t be diminished, but the beauty and power of the horses are glorious. I love the thrill of putting some money down on a horse and spending an afternoon with my mates, too. The Breeders’ Cup is celebrating 40 years of racing, so they’re pulling out all the stops. I love a special event where people get dressed up, pour some bubbles, and have a good time. I’ll be in the kitchen most of the time, but I’m hoping to place a few bets and enjoy as a spectator, as well.”The 2023 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, consisting of 14 Grade 1 championship races, and $31 million in purses and awards, takes place on Friday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 4, at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Tickets are on sale now here.
