Alexander Hamilton facts FOR KIDS

  1. Alexander Hamilton was born in 1755 or 1757 in Charlestown, Nevis. He was a military officer, statesman, and one of the Founding Fathers who served as the first Secretary of the Treasury from 1789 to 1795.
  2. Hamilton’s father abandoned the family in 1766, and his mother died when he was 13 years old, leaving him orphaned at a young age.
  3. During the Revolutionary War, Hamilton served as a field commander in the Continental Army and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, serving as a member of George Washington’s staff.
  4. After the war, Hamilton became one of the most influential founding fathers of the new nation, playing a pivotal role in the Constitutional Convention and advocating for a strong national government.
  5. In 1787, Hamilton joined with James Madison and John Jay to write a series of essays known as the Federalist Papers, which argued for the ratification of the Constitution.
