In three months, 2020 and an entire decade will come to an end. This year has been different from the pandemic that literally shut down the global economy and locked people in their home. Yet, the silver lining with this was that we became a bit kinder to ourselves and others. A lot of introspection happened, and there is time to be kinder, nicer, and more humane towards others and specifically towards yourself.

Being a better person is not hard. A simple smile or a helping hand towards a person in need can set you on a path towards becoming a better human. It is the need of the hour and thus, here are simple things you can do for the same.

  1. Don’t ignore a mail or a text

If you are a businessman, getting no response to an email can be disheartening. That is why pledge that even if you don’t want to work the business or don’t like the proposition, you will acknowledge the mail. Ignoring it can leave people in confusion about what to do next.

Similarly, in your personal life, if someone sends you a text or calls you to chat, no matter who it is, don’t ignore it. You can end up cheering someone or make up for lost times with an old friend.

  1. Use social media for spreading positivity

A lot of people are taking a break from social media because of all the backlash, negativity, and trolling. Everyone has the right to an opinion, if they are wrong or you don’t agree with them, don’t troll or shame them. Try to make your point or help them see their wrongdoing in a better manner.

Also, use social media to share positive thoughts and fun videos so that you can make some smile or inspire someone. Create inspirational images and share them on your profile.

  1. Be yourself

A lot of us become someone else to please people or fit in. It leads us to be unhappy, and when we are sad, we tend to be rude and unkind to people. So, first, stop pretending to be someone else to fit in or blend.

Be yourself. Also, know that no matter how broken you think you are, you can get better. You need the right kind of help. Sometimes, helping another broken person can help you fix you too.

So, always be kind to people, listen to them, and show empathy.

  1. Compliment people more

A simple compliment that you give to your friend or a business partner or even a stranger can bring a smile to their face. It has a strong impact on people and can turn a bad day into a good one.

  1. Don’t judge people because of their past

We grow as we get older and get more experience, and growing up means making mistakes and learning from them. If a person is trying to change and redeem themselves, bringing their past mistakes, and judging them is not right. Try to give people a second chance and help them grow.

Using social media to highlight a person’s past and corrupting their future when they are trying to be better is wrong.

  1. Learn to say sorry

Saying sorry and taking responsibilities for your wrongful action is imperative. It not only makes you a better person, but it can heal lots of relationships. But be sure that you apologize in the right manner. If you do it just for the sake of doing it and using the word ‘if’, it won’t matter.

Also, it doesn’t matter if you are an adult if you are wrong, saying sorry to a younger person is right .

  1. Give away things

If you have things like a purse, clothes, or books that you don’t require anymore, give it away. You can send it to a charity or to a friend or family member who has better use for it.

  1. Be happy

Lastly, be happy. Do things that you like, even if it makes you a bit selfish. Until and unless you are happy, you won’t be able to put a smile on someone else’s face or be kind.

It is a simple enough list, but with lots of impacts. One good thing ripples out creating a lot of positivity, and the world needs this more now than ever. Do your bit every day, and you will experience changes around you soon. Also, when you are kind to others, the peace and happiness you feel will make your life better too.
